Looking Forward

I don’t know about you but I have a hard time taking down my Christmas decorations. I love fairy lights, tree lights, garland lights, candles, etc .... The ambiance of all the soft lighting creates a glow that warms me on the inside. But if I left it up all year, it would not have the same effect. It would become “normal”. So—taking it down is on my ‘to do list’ for the week.

I have many things on my ‘to do list’ for this week. Many of us are writing about starting the new year with resolutions and reflections. It is a common theme at this time of year. I want to encourage you to balance your time between the two.

Reflection is good for us. It allows us to see where we have been. As I take the ornaments off the tree, so many of them represent a time in my life, places I have visited or lived, a special time in my kids life or special moments for my husband and me. They instantly bring me to a place of remembrance that surround that ornament. The Bible talks of stones of remembrance being set up for the children of Israel to see as they journeyed through the promised land. Jacob set up stones, Joshua set up stones and Moses set up stones to name a few. All of this was to act as a reminder—what God had done—for them. I think we should do the same. We need to remember often what God has done for us, how He has revealed himself in our lives and intervened for us. It gives us hope and courage and trust!

Resolutions—comes from they word RESOLVE. We make a commitment to move forward. Absolutely, there are things that each of us want to change or improve on, but there are also things that we need the resolve to continue on with in faith. Vision is a necessary part of life

Proverbs 29:18 says “where there is no vision, the people perish”. Other versions say the people cast of restrain, they run wild, and the like. Basically, vision gives us a plan. God’s plan. I encourage you to spend time in these next few days to reflect on all the great things God has done for you and ask Him to give you a plan for the future, His future for your life. He will give you YOUR plan and He will give you the strength to accomplish it. Write it down so in the days and months to come, you can reflect on it. I‘m praying and believing for you to have the best year yet. Much love to you my sisters!!
